DAVID W. WHITEHEAD, counsels clients in estate planning, estate and trust administration, closely held business matters and tax planning. A Richmond native, David joined Virginia Estate & Trust Law, PLC in 2008.
David is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC), served as a member of several ACTEC committees and as the organization’s Virginia and Southeast Regional chair. He is listed in Best Lawyers in America® and Super Lawyers®. His professional affiliations are many and include membership in the Virginia Bar Association, the Estate Planning Council of Richmond, Trust Administrator’s Council of Richmond and the University of Richmond Estate Planning Advisory Council. He is also a former member of the board of governors of the Trusts and Estates Section of the Virginia State Bar and past president of the Estate Planning Council of Richmond. David is a frequent lecturer and author on estate planning, tax and estate and trust administration matters.
David gives his time freely to community organizations. He is past president and member of the Advisory Board of A Grace Place, a non-profit provider of adult care service for those with age-related conditions including Alzheimer’s, dementia and intellectual and physical disabilities. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Westminster Canterbury Foundation and is also a “Smart Giving” lecture series volunteer for its Planned Giving Committee.
David received his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law and his B.A. in History from Yale University.
