NANCY NEWTON “NEWNIE” ROGERS, with more than 35 years of experience, focuses her practice on estate planning and trust and estate administration. Her career began at Mays & Valentine, later Troutman Sanders, LLP, and she has been a member of Virginia Estate & Trust Law, PLC since 2009.
Newnie is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC). She has been listed in Best Lawyers in America® and Virginia Business magazine’s Legal Elite in Taxes, Estates and Trusts. She is rated as a Virginia Super Lawyer® in Estate Planning & Probate Law.
She is a former member of the Virginia Bar Association’s Board of Governors and past president of the Virginia Law Foundation. She is a member of the Virginia State Bar and the Virginia Bar Association. She served as President of the Estate Planning Council of Richmond and Secretary of the Virginia Gift Planning Council and remains a member of both Councils. She is also a member of the Trust Administrators’ Council. Newnie also serves on the Legislative Committee of the Wills, Trusts and Estates Section of the Virginia Bar Association.
Newnie is an active community volunteer. She is a member of the Richmond steering committee of the Hollins University Alumnae Association, a member of the board of the Virginia Environmental Endowment, and a member of the vestry at St. James’s Episcopal Church. She is a former board member of Westminster Canterbury Foundation, the YMCA of Greater Richmond, and the Memorial Child Guidance Clinic Endowment. She is a member of the Junior League of Richmond and a former assistant coach for Geronimo Lacrosse.
Newnie received her J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law (Order of the Coif) and graduated cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, with a B.A. in History from Hollins University.
