Scott has practiced Tax, Wealth Management and Fiduciary law as a principal with Word & Word PLC since 2006. Before that he served as the first Development Director of, and organized the Planned Giving program for, the Ruffed Grouse Society, a national wildlife conservation advocacy organization. He also served as the President of the NPA Foundation of Washington, D.C., a private operating foundation dedicated to the education of judges and lawyers on the ill effects of the divorce litigation system on the development of children and ways to ameliorate those ill effects. He was recruited for that role because of his fifteen years experience as a domestic relations litigator. This background has equipped Scott to counsel individuals contemplating marriage on the advisability and structuring of premarital agreements, particularly when children of a prior marriage will be involved.

Scott is a graduate of the Cumberland School of Law, Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama, class of 1987. He is also a graduate of the University of Virginia and attended Hampden Sydney College for two years where he was on the Dean’s List.

Scott has served as a volunteer and Director of the Boys & Girls Club of Metro Richmond where he participated in planning for its endowment program in conjunction with The Community Foundation. His children Lacey and Thomas attend Collegiate School, from which Scott graduated in 1979.
